Cooking Up a Storm

Adam and I set aside today to cook a bunch of frozen meals. This will make life easier on us because it is so hard to take care of Aiden and cook dinner when I get home from work. We are making...

  • Vegetarian Chili in the crock pot (not to freeze but to have for dinner tonight after a long day of cooking)
  • lasagna (double batch)
  • baked ziti (double batch)
  • enchiladas
  • tamale pie
  • artichoke lemon chicken penne
  • chicken and rice with black peans
That makes 22 loaf pan size casseroles! The only one that won't be in a loaf pan is the enchiladas because they always seem to disappear immediately.

New Pics!

More Cooing Less Barking

You may remember that Mick has been peeing in Aiden's room. We started kenneling him at night so he started peeing in there during the day. We started closing the door to his room during the day but we decided we just couldn't keep ignoring the jealous behavior. My mom has been wanting a dog and was getting pretty close to adopting one so we decided to give him up now so we can make sure he goes to a good home. So, next Friday we will drive to Pendleton to meet my mom for the swap. We will miss Mick but we know it's the right thing for our family.

Hi Ho Hi Ho

I started back to work on Tuesday and everything went smoothly. The kids were happy to see me and I had fun doing what I love. Aiden had a good day with Lorna, when I called at lunchtime he was talking to her! We're still struggling with evenings because there is just so much to do. Spring Break is next week so I'm planning to make a bunch of frozen meals to help us get through the next few weeks.

More Kindness from Strangers

We had a great time in CO. Aiden was a big star and it was really fun seeing everyone interact with him. Our return trip was somewhat stressful because of long delays but we made it home and Adam received a really nice note from a fellow passenger at the end of our trip.
Dear Daddy,

My husband and I were so impressed with the way you look so adoringly at your young son. You held him so carefully in the airport during our long delay and looked in his eyes as if you could see the world in his future. When we got on the place and he fussed a bit, Mama wrapped him just like we used to wrap each of our 4 children (snuggled up tight) then once again Daddy had him in his arms and looking in his eyes he felt safe and fell safely to sleep. What a lucky child!

It was pretty nice to get the note after a grueling day of traveling!

Out and About

I'm going back to work on March 18! I like working and I know Aiden will do well with Lorna (our sitter) but I have so much work to do before I go back. Getting out of the house by 7:15 am will be challenging but I think I've got some good shortcuts figured out. The last few days Aiden and I have been running around getting all the things we need for the big day.

The Morning Wiggle

Aiden woke up to be fed and changed at 7:10am. After his bottle he was kicking and flailing his arms like crazy so I decided he needed a morning wiggle. He's happily wiggling away on his blanket on the rug and cooing more than ever. I guess everyone needs some time alone in the morning!
