A day at the races

Here's a little sample of what it's like to play with Aiden these days, he looks anything (or anyone) to climb on. With any form of climbing, there are risks involved, as he shows us here.

Home for the Day

I'm home sick today with strep throat. I'm feeling fine but I was still contagious this morning as I only started the antibiotics yesterday. To tell you the truth, it's kind of nice to have an extra day at home. I wish I hadn't had to suffer through strep just to get it!

Right now Aiden is playing in the jumperoo; I think he's been in there over an hour! He's been up since 7 and even though he's tired and yawning, he screams like a maniac when I try to put him down for a nap. So I'm letting him wear himself out in the jumperoo and I'm going to put him down again in a few minutes.

The New Face of Learning Curve?

Well. What do you think? Does he have a chance of winning the contest? Voting starts tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23. I think you use this link...

Aiden ate a Pickle!

Last weekend Liz told me about how she used to give her kids pickles at restaurants because it really kept them busy. I thought I'd give it a try at home before doing it in the field and today was the day. I gave him a pickle spear and he LOVED it. He had a lot of fun gnawing on the juicy part and once that was all gone, I took it away. His shirt is pretty wet and smelly now but he liked it.

Uh Oh

Today Aiden figured out he can pull up to his knees in the crib. Later in the day, he figured out he can stand in there! We've been meaning to lower his crib for weeks but we kept forgetting. After this most recent discovery though, Adam got it done right away.

Update

Adam took Aiden to see Dr. Ally and he's up to 16 lbs 14oz! That means he gained 11 oz in just about two weeks. To put that in perspective, in the last two months he had only gained nine ounces! We credit the Prevacid with stopping the puking and allowing him to gain more weight! He is now in the 10th percentile for weight and the 40th for height!!! I'm sure you can imagine what a relief this is.

Lorna reports that he is in a much better mood these days and we've all noticed his dirty diapers no longer reek of vinegar. He's even getting used to the other baby at Lorna's house. The other day Aiden played with Jacek's feet while Jacek hung out in the exersaucer! That is MAJOR improvement.

Over the past week Aiden has been busy perfecting his crawling techniques and figuring out how to crawl OVER things. He's also been trying to pull up on things. So far he hasn't been terribly successful but we've helped him out and he's getting quite good at standing next to the couch.

Today we're all planning to go to the Boise Kidsignments sale. Later, Adam and Aiden are going with a friend to watch the Oregon-Boise State game. Yep, you read that right Oregon is playing Boise State and we're hoping Aiden's Oregon shirt and hat bring us good luck.

Crawling!

I guess it's official, Mr. Man can crawl. He is now able to crawl around without his belly touching the floor (if he wants to). Adam's grandmother and aunt are visiting so it was a good time for him to demonstrate this new skill. We'll try to get a video!

At the zoo

We went to Zoo Boise on Sunday -- the first time for Adam and Aiden. It's a very nice zoo, right in the middle of a big city park. No shortage of interesting animals (komodo dragon, tigers, snow leopards), and you can get much closer to them than at most zoos. Aiden seemed particularly delighted with the desert tortoises, squirming in Adam's arms as he got a good look at them crawling around (maybe he sensed a resemblence?). But Aiden was unimpressed with the striking, enormous tiger that stalked right by the viewing window, he was more interested in the other people around him.
